Qama: We've known each other for 3 years..

and we met through our mutual friend, Dale, who also happens to be Erin's boyfriend.

Plus, Erin and Eira has known each other their whole lives - being sisters!  

Our shared passion is creating content but we each have our own interests:

Erin - Writing & Styling

Qama - Makeup

Eira - Filmmaking

And yes, we do find that we're doing something that the three of us are truly passionate about which is creating content!

Qama: We've been wanting to do our own thing for awhile and we've been meeting up and talking about creating content that that our audiences can relate which is fun & colourful.

We also want to give a voice & give a platform for upcoming artists, who we feel are genuinely talented people..

So one night over dinner, we just went "Let's start our own thing! Like why do we have to wait for people to do it?"

So, what inspired us is our vision to create something different that's not really mainstream but still very fun, cute and to not take ourselves too seriously. 

We just want to HAVE FUN and show it to the world!

Eira: Our biggest challenge was finding the people to work with us that have the same vision as us.

It's very hard to find people that believe in what we believe in.

I guess, we're lucky that the three of us share the same vision!

Eira: To me it means an equal status in society..

Erin: and girls should support each other - no drama!

Erin: ..and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it and don't be afraid to just be you and it's fine to have your own opinion..

To be honest, I had no specific intention in joining the F&B industry; the interest grew as I got more involved with Wok It..

What made me join Wok It was the vision and idea that my partners brought forth which excited me to the potential of this endeavour.

At this point, jumping onto this bandwagon has been the most challenging step that I’ve taken in my life.

Coupled with zero prior working experience, it has made this endeavour doubly hard for me.

For me personally - it was a lot of figuring things out on my own, whether it was in terms of research, being attentive to other F&B business, and of course to be proactive once a possible solution comes to light.

Serena Williams is my bada** inspiration.

Figuring out the inner workings of being in the F&B industry as it is is already a challenge. I find myself attending to issues that never crossed my mind as a customer, but felt a complete change being on the other side of the table.

I'm more involved in the Operations side of the business, and the biggest challenge was probably when we grew to two full-fledged outlets plus having a central kitchen function. 

Being a restaurant, managing inventories with many perishable goods and maintaining food quality and consistency can be quite a headache.

I think we've managed to keep it under control by putting the right systems in place - I wouldn't say that we have solved it entirely - as the systems are forever evolving..

I feel that by keeping myself motivated, by keeping my energy up it will automatically translate in my actions and that helps keep the people around me equally motivated.

To summarize, I would say it’s equality for women.

What that means is that women be supported, respected, appreciated and given opportunities equally as is afforded to the opposite gender.

As much as this message is for others, it is also something I continue to remind myself daily.

Be brave and be kind.

In this world where most fields are mainly male-dominated, we need to be brave enough to stand up and be part of the game.

If we are not given the opportunity, let us be brave and create our own opportunity. With that in mind, we should never forget to be kind, to others, and most importantly to be kind to ourselves.

I have never thought that I would be a business owner but weirdly enough, Wok It has been a dream come true for me..

I started out helping the two co-founders, Ashraf and Meor, when Wok It was just a pop-up. That was how the journey began.

Three years later, who knew that I would know I'm a co-owner of Wok It and it is now operating in two outlets..

..and I am proud of what it has achieved today.

I believe that it was an interesting career move for me.

I have a degree in Journalism and I have always enjoyed meeting people. 

The F&B industry is a platform where I am able to communicate with new people through food.

The food that is served at Wok It has always been about the people, the voice of what people want to eat.

With that said, we want to wok what you want.

That is why I chose to be in this industry.

Interesting and challenging at the same time. It was a whole new space for me to discover and attain knowledge.

It has given me the chance to embrace the world of the unknown.

I truly believe that every woman on this planet deserves equality regardless of what career path they choose.

We deserve every chance and opportunity in this world to pursue and achieve our dreams.
